About

Always inspired by nature & the abstract!

I began my photography journey aged about 12 when I was given my first camera and was drawn to the natural world from the outset.

I work at my own pace and when I’m out and about with my camera I’m looking for patterns, contours, shapes and colour. If in a rural setting I seek out plants and trees. By the sea, I’m scanning for patterns in the sand, seaweed, shells and colour; beach locations offer a host of photographic opportunities. I search for unusual abstract things other people might not necessarily spot or consider to be good image fodder.

I rarely head out with a specific plan, I let my eyes wonder and invariably find subjects that interest me or tickle my fancy. Fundamentally I shoot for myself and what appeals to me, but I’m also thinking about whether the image will connect with an audience and evoke an emotion for them.

If I wouldn’t be happy for an image to adorn my home I don’t display it for others. So it’s always such a great compliment if someone is prepared to spend their hard earned money on the time and creativity I invest in an image.

And Now Off Script -

I'm into individual boutique stores, crime dramas, walks on the beach, autumn, Mojitos, Latino & Spanish music. I hate smoking & crowds. Favourite place to live? Somewhere by the ocean. Favourite climate? Winters with proper snow and long hot lazy summers on the coast, but my favourite season is Autumn. Favourite Musical? Jersey Boys or A Chorus Line. The best things in life are free; my top 3 are:-fresh linen on the bed, birds bathing in the bird bath, and watching waves roll in on the shore. I'm a secret chocolate afficionado; Lindt is the tops & my No.1 pudding is Pavlova. I've enjoyed many wildlife encounters during my travels including: riding an elephant in Thailand, tickling a dolphin's teeth in New Zealand, swimming with sharks at the Great Barrier Reef, walking amongst fur seals in New Zealand, and cuddling a koala in Australia.

Contentment these days is leading a modest, quiet life in rural Nottinghamshire with my husband and dogs. I enjoy daily walks in the countryside & spending time in the garden. Life is better with a dog!
